Hannover City Mayor Stephan Weil to Visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mr. Stephan Weil, Mayor of the City of Hannover from Germany, accompanied by Mr. Ernst Raue, Member of the Managing Board of Hannover Messe AG, will pay a visit to Taiwan from July 12 to 15, 2010.
This trip will serve the purpose of deepening the delegates’ understanding of Taiwan’s political and economic development, as well as strengthening the business ties and trade cooperation between Germany and Taiwan.
During their stay, Mayor Weil will call on the Research Development and Evaluation Commission of the Executive Yuan, Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taipei City government, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Hsinchu Science Park, and National Chiao Tung University. The delegates will also attend banquets held in their honor by Amb. Chiu Jong-Jen, Director General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yuen-Chuan Chao, Director General of TAITRA and Mrs. Birgitt Ory, Director General of the German Institute Taipei. In addition, excursions to the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101 have been arranged for the delegation.
Hannover, a highly-industrialized city, is the Capital of Lower Saxony, as well as a hub for many German automobile, manufacturing, and electronics industries. Among the many trade expositions held in Germany each year, CeBit and Hannover Messe are the two leading worldwide exhibitions, in addition to being the important platforms where Taiwanese enterprises can explore business opportunities.(E)
