Prof. Dr. Gianfranco COFFELE, Deputy Rector of the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome to Visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Prof. Dr. Gianfranco COFFELE, Deputy Rector of the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, will visit Taiwan from December 19 to 23, 2010
During his stay, a welcome banquet will be hosted in his honor by Dr. Lyushun Shen, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He will call on Dr. Lin Tsong-ming, Deputy Minister of Education as well as call at Fu-Jen Catholic University. He will deliver speeches at National Dong Hwa University in Hualien, Salesian Technical School in Tainan and Taipei Municipal University of Education. He will also visit the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, the “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo” and Taroko National Park. The Reverend will also head south to Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung, where he will call on the Most Rev. Bosco Lin Chi-nan, Bishop of Tainan, His Eminence Paul Card. Shan, S.J. Honorary President of Chinese Regional Bishop’s Conference (CRBC), and the Most Rev. Peter LIU, Archbishop of Kaohsiung, and visit the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) at Chaochau Salesian House, Pingtung.

This trip marks the first visit to Taiwan for Prof. Dr. Gianfranco COFFELE. Through this visit, he hopes to have a better understanding of the current political, economic situation and the Catholic Church’s development in the R.O.C. (Taiwan), as well as the latest progress across the Taiwan Strait, and further enhance academic and cultural exchanges between universities in Taiwan and the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome.
