Members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament Visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mr. Jean Leonard Touadi and Mr. Vinicio G. Peluffo, Members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament, will visit Taiwan on February 17 to 21, 2011.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Thomas Ping-Fu Hou will host a welcome luncheon in their honor. Mr. Touadi and Mr. Peluffo are scheduled to call at the Legislative Yuan, Government Information Office, Mainland Affairs Council, Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and the Italian Economic, Trade and Cultural Promotion Office in Taiwan. On this trip, they will also visit Taipei 101, Nankang Software Park, Franz Collection Inc., Former Official Residence of Chiang Kai-shek in Shilin, National Palace Museum, Taipei Flora Expo and Kaohsiung Lantern Festival. 

This is the first time for either of them to come to Taiwan. Over the years, they have spared no effort to support Taiwan, including its efforts to gain broader participation in international organizations. During their stay, Mr. Touadi and Mr. Peluffo hope to gain a better understanding of the latest developments in Taiwan’s political scene, economy and cross-strait relations, and to further enhance the trade and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Italy.
