At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Fr. Mark Rostkowski, Director of the Library of Pontifical Urbanian University in Rome, is to visit Taiwan on May 25 to 29, 2011.
During his stay, Director Rostkowski will call on Deputy Minister of Education Lin Tsong-ming and Director General of the National Central Library Tseng Shu-hsien. He will also visit Fu-Jen Catholic University, National Palace Museum, National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center and Taipei 101. During his trip to Kaohsiung and Pingtung Counties, Director Rostkowski will call on Archbishop Peter Liu, and take excursions to Fo Guang Mountain, the Immaculate Conception Minor Basilica, and the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium complex.
Through this visit to Taiwan, the first for Director Rostkowski, he hopes to gain a better understanding of the most recent developments in the Catholic Church on the country, as well as in Taiwan’s educational system, culture and relations with mainland China. This trip also aims to further enhance academic exchanges between universities in Taiwan and the Pontifical Urbanian University in Rome. (E)
