Lithuanian parliamentary delegation to visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mr. Algis Kaseta, Member of the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania and the Chairman of the Group of Inter-parliamentary Relations with Taiwan, will lead a four-member parliamentary delegation to Taiwan, from July 15 to July 20, 2011. Mr. Kaseta will be accompanied by three other MPs: Mr. Arturas Melianas, Mrs. Danute Bekintiene and Mr. Remigijus Zemaitaitis.
The delegation will call on Minister of Finance Mr. Sush-der Lee, Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration Dr. Shu-hung Shen, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Lyushun Shen, Deputy Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council Mr. Charng Kao, and Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Tsong-Ming Lin. To welcome the delegates, Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Shen will host a luncheon in their honor.
The delegation will also pay visits to several government agencies, including the Legislative Yuan, the Council for Economic Planning and Development, the Bureau of Energy and the Government Information Office. In addition, the delegation will visit the National Palace Museum, Taroko National Park, Taipei 101 and Luxgen Motor Co., Ltd. They will also attend a performance of the traditional opera Legend of the Eight Celestials Crossing the Sea at TaipeiEYE.
This visit aims to enhance parliamentary exchanges between Taiwan and Lithuania, as well as to provide the delegation with a better understanding of the most recent developments in Taiwan in terms of politics, the economy, taxation, environmental protection and cross-strait relations. (E)
