Hungarian parliamentary delegation to visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), a ten-member delegation from the Hungarian Parliament led by MP Alpar Adam Gyoparos is scheduled to visit Taiwan on July 23-28, 2011.

The delegation members will call on Mr. Yung-chuan Tseng, Vice President of the Legislative Yuan; Dr. Yun-jie Lee, Minister of the National Youth Commission; Mr. Francis Kuo-shin Liang, Vice Minister of Economic Affairs; and Mr. Peter W. J. Huang, Executive Vice President of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. They will also call at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Council of Agriculture and Government Information Office. To welcome them, Legislative Yuan Vice President Tseng and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Lyushun Shen will each host a luncheon in their honor. In addition, the members will visit the Tzu Chi Foundation, Foxconn Technology Group, and tour the National Palace Museum, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Taroko National Park, Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taipei Confucius Temple, Taipei 101, Taiwan Handicraft Promotion Center and Shilin Night Market. The delegation will also attend a performance by the Cantemus Mixed Choir from Hungary at the 2011 Taipei International Choral Festival and the traditional opera Borrowing the Basjoo Fan at TaipeiEYE.

This visit aims to enhance parliamentary exchanges between Taiwan and Hungary and give the delegation a better understanding of Taiwan’s most recent political and economic developments, youth policies and relations with mainland China. (E)
