Polish Parliamentary Delegation to Visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), a four-member delegation from the lower house of the Polish Parliament led by Ms. Magdalena Kochan, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group of Women, is scheduled to visit Taiwan on August 9-13, 2011.

The delegation members will call on Mr. Yung-chuan Tseng, Vice President of the Legislative Yuan; Ms. Ju-hsuan Wang, Minister of the Council of Labor Affairs; and Ms. Tzu-ling Lin, Deputy Minister of the Interior. They will also call at the Council for Economic Planning and Development, Government Information Office, Warsaw Trade Office in Taipei, and Foundation of Women’s Rights Promotion and Development. To welcome them, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lyushun Shen will host a luncheon in their honor. In addition, the members will take excursions to the National Palace Museum, Yangmingshan National Park, Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Center for Traditional Arts, Beitou Hot Spring Museum, Taipei 101, Jianguo Weekend Flower Market, Taipei Confucius Temple, Baoan Temple, Taiwan Handicraft Promotion Center, and Huahsi Street Night Market. The delegation will also attend a performance of the traditional opera Borrowing the Basjoo Fan at TaipeiEYE.

This visit aims to enhance parliamentary exchanges between Taiwan and Poland and give the delegation a better understanding of Taiwan’s most recent political and economic developments, women and labor policies and measures to protect the rights of women and laborers. (E)
