No. 276
August 30, 2011

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament Mr. Enrico Pianetta, Mr. Remigio Ceroni and Mr. Francesco Benedetto Fucci, who will be accompanied by his wife, will visit Taiwan from August 30 to September 3, 2011.

They will call at the Legislative Yuan, the Government Information Office, the Straits Exchange Foundation, the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taipower, the Department of Health, the Asian Institute of Telesurgery, and the Italian Economic, Trade and Cultural Promotion Office. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Lyushun Shen will host a welcome luncheon for them, and they will also visit Taipei 101, Franz Collection, the National Palace Museum, Sun Moon Lake, Historical Street in Changhua and the Port of Kaohsiung.

While Mr. Pianetta and Mr. Ceroni have visited Taiwan before, in 2008, this is the first time Mr. and Mrs. Fucci have been here. The members have spared no effort in supporting Taiwan’s broader participation in international organizations, as well as various bills that are important to our country. They hope to gain a better understanding of the latest political and economic developments in Taiwan, including relations with mainland China, and to further enhance trade and cultural exchanges between Italy and Taiwan.
