Former Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg to visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Lydie Polfer, Member of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies and former Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, and Ms. Anne Brasseur, also Member of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, will visit Taiwan from October 31 to November 3, 2011.
They will call on Legislative Yuan Vice President Tseng Yung-chuan, Deputy Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council Dr. Chao Chien-min, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Lyushun Shen and Mr. Hugues Mignot, Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office, Taipei. They will also call at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taxation Agency of the Ministry of Finance, and visit Taipei 101, the National Palace Museum, Hsinchu Science Park, as well as local high tech companies and sites of cultural interest in Tainan.
Ms. Polfer and Ms. Brasseur both belong to Luxembourg’s leading opposition party, the Democratic Party, and are important political figures. The trip, their first to Taiwan, aims to give them a better understanding of recent political and economic developments here. (E)
