The ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its shock and condemnation over the suicide bombing at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, Turkey’s biggest, on June 28 that tragically took the lives of 36 innocent people and injured over 100 others. The ROC government conveys its deep condolences to the families of the victims, and sincerely wishes those who were hurt a speedy recovery.
As far as the ROC representative office in Turkey understands at this stage, no ROC nationals have been wounded in the attack. It has contacted ROC expatriates through social media and over the phone to remind them to watch out for their personal safety.
ROC nationals currently in Turkey requiring emergency assistance can call the representative office’s emergency hotline at +90-532-322-7162. Alternatively, friends and relatives of ROC overseas travelers can call the toll-free 0800-085-095 emergency hotline in Taiwan to inform MOFA, so that it can offer immediate help.
MOFA reminds ROC nationals travelling abroad to heed their personal safety, pay attention to MOFA travel advisories, and avoid areas with safety concerns.
