The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has, on the basis of reciprocity, consented to increasing the yearly quota for Austrian youth holidaymakers to 75, following the Republic of Austria’s earlier move to raise its quota for Taiwanese youth holidaymakers to that number, in accordance with the youth working holiday agreement signed between the two countries.

Taiwan and Austria signed the youth working holiday joint declaration on November 18, 2014, at which time up to 50 young people aged 18 to 30 per year from each country could obtain working holiday visas having validity of six months. Representatives of the two countries further signed a declaration on October 24, 2017, to extend visa validity for participants to one year.

MOFA has posted information provided by the Austrian government, in Mandarin, about application criteria and other important items regarding the working holiday scheme on the following website: http://www.youthtaiwan.net/News.aspx?n=CFE1B745364D2499&sms=3F2F6397B3FA1B69&CategorySN=3.

Citizens interested in traveling to Austria for a working holiday may also find information on the website of the Austrian Office in Taipei (http://www.bmeia.gv.at/taipeh). Young Austrians desiring to come to Taiwan for a working holiday can find relevant information on the website of the Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Austria (http://www.taiwanembassy.org/at).

MOFA advises Taiwan’s youth visiting Austria under the working holiday program to learn about the country prior to departure, abide by local laws and regulations, take safety precautions, and stay in frequent contact with their families, so as to ensure a safe and pleasant trip. In case of emergency, they can contact the Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Austria (Address: Wagramer Str. 19/11. OG., A-1220 Vienna, Austria; Phone: +43-664-3450455).
