Governor General Borromeo and Chancellor Brouwers of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem of the Holy See visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)of the Republic of China(Taiwan), H.E. Agostino Borromeo, Governor General of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem of the Holy See, together with Msgr. Hans A.L. Brouwers, Chancellor of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem of the Holy See, visit Taiwan from November 10 to 16, 2010.

Mr. Ssu-Tsun Shen, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will host a welcome banquet in honor of the delegates. Governor General Borromeo and Chancellor Brouwers will hold a Ceremony of Investiture for 32 Knights of the Taiwan Chapter, as well as call on the Apostolic Nunciature and Fu-Jen Catholic University. In addition, the delegates will also visit the National Palace Museum and the “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo.” Governor General Borromeo is scheduled to deliver a speech in Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages in Kaohsiung, call on His Eminence Paul Cardinal Shan, S.J., visit Mount of Beatitude’s Pastoral Center and Diocesan Missionary Seminary Redemptoris Mater. 

This trip marks the first visit to Taiwan for both Governor General Borromeo and Chancellor Brouwers. Through this visit, the delegates hope to gain a better understanding of the current political, economic and Catholic church’s developments in the R.O.C.(Taiwan), as well as the latest situation across the Taiwan Strait, in order to further enhancing cultural exchanges between Taiwan and the Holy See.(E)
