What documents do I need to prepare when applying for a resident visa for employment purpose?

  1. Required documents:
    1. The original and a copy of letter of permission from the competent central authority. The employment period shall be more than six months from the day of application. The original work permit will be returned after review. 
    2. A passport still valid for more than six months with empty pages. And copies of basic-data page of passport are also required. 
    3. A properly completed visa application form. You need to first access the website https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw to fill out application form online and print it out with the bar code.
      • You must sign the form to confirm that the information you have provided is true.
    4. Two 2"x2" photographs 
      • *Photographs must be taken within the last six months, in color and with a white-color background.
    5. Other supporting documents depending on your purpose. If you reside outside of Taiwan, you must apply at an ROC overseas mission.
  2. White-collar professionals who enter Taiwan via visa exemption and have obtained a work permit for fulfilling contract purpose issued before or within 30 days of their entry (Brunei, Philippines and Thailand are not included) may apply for a work visa. 
    *Applications shall be submitted within 8 working days before their permitted duration of stay expire. 
    *For others who obtains work permits (exclude fulfilling contract purpose) granted for a period over 6 months, shall apply for their residency directly to the National Immigration Agency according to the “Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals.”

This regulation does not apply to blue-collar workers.
