Resident Visas for Internship Purpose
REQUIREMENTS DESCRIPTION
Application form Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw .  Fill out the application form online and print it out.  Make sure the application form shows a bar code on it.  Sign the application form.
Two color passport-size (45 mm in height and 35 mm in width) photos Paste on the application form two color passport-size photos with a white background taken within 6 months.
Passport (original and photocopy)
  1. Valid for no less than 6 months with blank pages.
  2. A photocopy of basic-data page of passport including photo. In the case of application for the territory of the ROC, the photocopies of visa and entry stamp are necessary.
Approval letter issued by government agency e.g. Approval letter issued by the competent authority. The period of internship indicated on the permit must be more than 6 months.
Original and photocopy of approved health certificate
  1. Issued within the past 3 months by a hospital designated by Ministry of Health and Welfare's Center for Disease Control for foreigners. Health certificate issued by a qualified foreign hospital must be attached with Chinese or English version and authenticated by an ROC overseas mission.
  2. For hospitals that perform medical examination and the items concerned, please visit the website of the above-mentioned Department.
Other supporting documents To be decided on a case-by-case basis.  Applicants who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp.

 

Application Procedure

  1. The applicant who is out of territory of the ROC, shall apply for a visa directly at an ROC overseas mission.
  2. Interview may be required when necessary.

 

Notice

  1. Subject to the “Statute Governing Issuance of the ROC Visas in Foreign Passport” and “Visa Statute Enforcement Rules”, the Rules for the Issuance of the ROC Visas to Foreign-Passport Holders”, the ROC, as a sovereign nation, has the right to disapprove of a visa and reserve the right to withhold disclosure of the reasons for disapproval of the visa, and to withhold the fees deemed non-refundable.
  2. Original documents are to be returned after review.

  4. Those who enter the ROC with landing visas or visa–exempt program and blue collar workers may not apply for a Resident Visa.
  5. Those who enter the R.O.C. (Taiwan) on a Resident Visa or get a Resident Visa after having arrived in the  R.O.C. (Taiwan) must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate and Re-entry Permit at local service centers of National Immigration Agency. The former must apply within 30 days from the next day of arrival, and the latter must apply within 30 days from the Resident Visa issuance date.  Duration of stay is noted on the Alien Resident Certificate.
