Guidelines for visa applications to the Republic of China (Taiwan) by Dutch citizens taking part in the Working Holiday Program

1. Qualification requirements

    Applicants qualify if they:

1.1.hold Dutch citizenship and reside in the Netherlands at the time of application;
1.2.have not previously obtained an R.O.C. (Taiwan) visa for the Working Holiday Program;
1.3.are between the ages of 18 and 30 at the time of application; and
1.4.do not list dependents on their application. (Nevertheless, dependents may apply separately for an R.O.C. (Taiwan) visa for the Working Holiday Program.)

2. Required documentation and funds

2.1.R.O.C. (Taiwan) visa application form for the Working Holiday Program (available on the Bureau of Consular Affairs website) completed and signed by the applicant
2.2.A Dutch passport valid for more than 12 months upon arrival in Taiwan
2.3.Two color passport photos taken within six months prior to the date of application
2.4.Proof of comprehensive insurance for the entire duration of stay in Taiwan, covering treatment for occupational injuries and related medical care, as well as any other medical and hospitalization expenses
2.5.Proof of no criminal record
2.6.Financial statement showing possession of at least €2,500
2.7.Proof of possession of air ticket to leave Taiwan or sufficient funds to purchase such ticket
2.8.Health check report issued within three months prior to the date of application
2.9.Visa fee of €86 (nonrefundable)

3. Application procedures

3.1.Applications must be made in person and cannot be made through a third party.
3.2.Applications must be submitted to the Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands.
3.3.Applicants must submit additional documentation and undergo an interview if so requested by the Representative Office.

4. Type of visa issued

4.1.Type: Visitor visa
4.2.Validity: One year from the date of issue; multiple entries allowed
4.3.Duration of stay: 180 days. Within 15 days prior to expiry, the holder may apply for an extension of up to 180 days at the National Immigration Agency service center in the city or county of residence in Taiwan. The total duration of stay may not exceed one year. No further extensions or changes to visa type will be permitted thereafter.

5. Other information

5.1.Working Holiday Program visas are issued to a maximum of 100 participants per year.
5.2.Working Holiday Program participants may reside in Taiwan for a maximum of 12 months. During their stay in Taiwan, participants may engage in academic studies and temporary work.
