Standard Fees for Republic of China (Taiwan) Visas in Foreign Passports
Promulgated by Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) order No. 0966801401 on October 1, 2007

Article 1

Visa fees are specified in accordance with Article 14 of the Statute Governing the Issuance of ROC Visas in Foreign Passports (hereinafter referred to as the “Statute”) and Article 10 of the Charges and Fees Act.

Article 2

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the “Ministry”) and overseas missions of the Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as “ROC overseas missions”) shall collect the following fees when handling visas:

 
1. Visa fees
2. Special handling fees
3. Postage and telegram charges.
 
The aforementioned fees, the amounts for which are set out in Articles 3, 4 and 5 below, shall be paid according to where the visa application is submitted and in the currency specified as follows:
1. Visa fees for applications made in Taiwan shall be paid in New Taiwan dollars (hereinafter referred to as “NT dollars”).
2. Visa fees for applications made at ports of entry in Taiwan shall be paid in NT or US  dollars.
3. Visa fees for applications made outside of Taiwan (hereinafter referred to as 
  “overseas”) shall be paid in US dollars. If payment is made in a local currency, the amount payable shall be calculated by ROC overseas missions to be the equivalent of the stipulated US-dollar amount, and submitted to the Ministry for prior approval.
 

Article 3

Fees are categorized into visitor visa fees and resident visa fees. The rates are as follows:
1. Single Entry Visitor Visa: NT$1,600 per application made in Taiwan; US$50 per application made overseas.
2. Multiple Entry Visitor Visa: NT$3,200 per application made in Taiwan; US$100 per application made overseas.
3. Single Entry Resident Visa: NT$2,200 per application made in Taiwan; US$66 per application made overseas.
4. Multiple Entry Resident Visa: NT$4,400 per application made in Taiwan; US$132 per application made overseas.

 
Article 4

Special handling fees shall apply as follows:
1. An additional charge of NT$800 or US$24 shall apply to visa applications made on arrival at ports of entry in Taiwan.
2. An additional 50% surcharge on rates as stipulated according to the different visa types in Article 3 shall apply to rush handling. However, if the request for rush handling is made in response to an emergency or to fulfill official duties, the applicant may be exempted from the additional charge.
3. An additional charge of NT$800 or US$24 shall apply to applications made in Taiwan by holders of a visitor visa who wish to reapply for a different type of visitor visa or a resident visa.
4. Visa applications made by passport-holders from countries that charge a special handling fee to holders of a Taiwan passport shall be charged the equivalent additional amount for each visa application.

The rush handling mentioned in Item 2 above refers to the Ministry or ROC overseas missions , in consideration of the urgency of the situation, either dispatching specially-assigned personnel to immediately process applications or issuing a visa earlier than the standard processing time.

 
Article 5

Postage and telegram charges refer to telegram fees incurred by the Ministry and ROC overseas missions when processing visa applications, and postage charges incurred by ROC overseas missions for mailing visas, passports and/or other relevant application forms.

The aforementioned telegram fees shall be stipulated by the Ministry and may vary according to region. The postage charges for mailing documents shall be determined according to the postage costs of each application incurred by ROC overseas missions .

 
Article 6

ROC overseas missions shall promulgate the fees and equivalent amount in the local currency. However, ROC overseas missions may be exempted from promulgating the fees under special circumstances after approval from the Ministry.

 
Article 7

In cases where visas are denied, the application fees are nonrefundable. However, ROC overseas missions may offer a refund under special circumstances after approval from the Ministry.

Fees are nonrefundable in cases where issued visas are invalidated or canceled in accordance with Article 13 of the Statute.

 
Article 8

Receipts indicating the currency and amount charged shall be issued on payment. However, for certain cases as prescribed in Paragraph 1 of Article 22 of  Enforcement Rules of  the National Treasury Law, receipts may be waived.

 
Article 9

In accordance with Article 11 of the Charges and Fees Act, visa fees and procedures shall be reviewed on a regular basis, and are subject to change by the Ministry according to price fluctuations in Taiwan and overseas, to variations in exchange rates and to adjustments to the procedures for fee collection.

 
Article 10

The standard fees shall enter into force on October 3, 2007.
