Twelve European Parliament Assistants to Visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), a delegation of twelve assistants to important Members of the European Parliament will visit Taiwan for the first time, from July 19 to July 23, 2010. The visit aims at broadening delegates’ better understanding about the development of Taiwan politics, economy and the cross-strait relations. Led by Ms. Silvia Waleska Diaz Blanco, the delegation includes Ms. Beatriz Muller Martin, Mr. Ulisse Luca Toschi, Ms. Elisa Grazia Gazzara, Ms. Maria Joao Podgorny, Ms. Nadja Pohlmann, Ms. Helen Willetts, Ms. Nora Kartelova, Mr. Umberto Gambini, Mr. Levente Csaszi, Ms. Petra Solli and Mr. Riccardo Masucci.
During their stay, Dr. Lyushun Shen, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, will host a welcoming banquet. In addition, the delegates will pay a visit to the Foreign and National Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan, the Mainland Affairs Council, the Executive Yuan, the Council for Economic Planning and Development, the Kuomintang Party and the Democratic Progressive Party. They will also visit the European Economic and Trade Office, the European Chamber of Commerce Taipei, Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute, Hsinchu Scientific Park, the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, Taroko National Park, Motech Industries, among other cultural and economic establishments.(E)
