A Belgian Parliamentary delegation to visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China(Taiwan), a parliamentary delegation from Belgium led by Hon. Patrick Dewael, Minister of State and Member of the External Relations Committee of the Chamber of Representatives, will visit Taiwan on November 4-9, 2010. Other delegation members include Hon. Gwendolyn Rutten, Member of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives; Mr. Axel Delvoie, Foreign Affairs Advisor of the Open Vld Party; and Ms. Greet Op de Beeck, journalist and reporter for VRT TV. 

The President of Legislative Yuan Wang Jin-pyng and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Lyushun Shen will host respectively luncheons in honor of the delegates. During the visit, the delegation will call at the Government Information Office, Mainland Affairs Council, Bureau of Foreign Trade, Straits Exchange Foundation, National Policy Foundation, and Institute for National Policy Research. The delegates also will attend the Opening and Awards Ceremony of the 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition and visit Hsinchu Science Park, IMEC Taiwan Co., Taipei 101, National Palace Museum, Kenting National Park, among other cultural ad economic establishments. 

Minister Dewael previously has served as Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior as well as President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives. 

This trip marks the first to Taiwan for all of the delegation members. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sincerely welcomes the arrival of Minister Dewael and members of his delegation.(E)
