Delegation from the Austrian People’s Party Parliamentary Club to visit Taiwan

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the delegation from the Austrian People’s Party Parliamentary Club, led by its Deputy Chairman Werner Amon and Second President of the National Council of the Parliament Fritz Neugebauer, will visit Taiwan from November 23 to 26, 2010. Other members of the delegation are Parliamentarian August Woginger, Parliamentarian Gunther Kosl, Parliamentarian Silvia Fuhrmann, Parliamentarian Oswald Klikovits and Parliamentarian Bernd Schonegger.

The delegation will have an audience with President Ma Ying-jeou, attend luncheons held in their honor respectively by Vice President of Legislative Yuan Yung-Chuan Tseng, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Lyushun Shen and Director General of the Austrian Office in Taipei Gerhard Gotz. The delegates will also call at Legislative Yuan, National Security Council, Ministry of Education, Government Information Office, and Council for Cultural Affairs. In addition, the delegates are scheduled to visit National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition and historical sites of Tainan. This trip will provide the delegation with an opportunity to better understand the latest developments in Taiwan and the policies of current administration.

Deputy Chairman Amon serves concurrently as Chairman of the Standing Subcommittee of the Committee on Internal Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Education Committee. Second President Neugebauer, who has been elected as national congressman three times consecutively, also serves as the Chairman of the Standing Subcommittee on EU Affairs of the National Council as well as Chairman of the Procedure Committee. Both Mr. Amon and Mr. Neugebauer are important members of the Austrian People’s Party. Other delegates are all young, talented and promising parliamentarian.(E)
