At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Ambassador Audrey Joy Grant of Belize to the European Union, the World Trade Organization, Belgium, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and France, will visit Taiwan from April 11 to 16, 2011.

During Amb. Grant’s stay, a welcome banquet will be hosted in her honor by Dr. Lyushun Shen, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Amb. Grant will also deliver a speech at the Foreign Service Institute. In addition, Amb. Grant will call on Minister of the Environmental Protection Administration Dr. Shen Shu-hung, Charge d’Affairs of Embassy of Belize Mr. Efrain Ravey Novelo, Deputy Minister of Mainland Affairs Council Mr. Charng Kao, Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung Ms. Shih-Fang Liu, and the Deputy Director-General of Tourism Bureau Mr. David Hsieh, and officials of the Government Information Office, among others. Amb. Grant will also visit Hsinchu Science Park, Eco-City, Industrial Technology Research Institute, Tzuchi Environmental Protection Educational Center, National Palace Museum, the “2010 Taipei International Flora Expo” and attend the Earth Day activities organized by the Embassy of Belize.

Ambassador Grant is Advisor to Prime Minister of Belize on environmental and development issues as well. This is the first time for her to visit Taiwan. This trip aims to give Ambassador Grant a better understanding of Taiwan’s most recent political and economic developments, cross-strait relations as well as the current state of environmental protection of Taiwan.
