At the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), H.R.H. Princess Tsandzile, Minister of Natural Resources and Energy of the Kingdom of Swaziland, will visit Taiwan from May 23 to 27, 2011, with Mr. Henry D. Shongwe, Director of Energy, and Mr. Obed M. Ngwenya, Director of Water Affairs.
Minister Tsandzile will call at the Water Resources Agency, the Bureau of Mines and the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. She will also visit Taiwan Power Company, Sie-he Thermal Power Station, Dihua Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Museum of Gold, and attend the 2011 Africa Day celebrations.
This is Princess Tsandzile’s second visit to Taiwan. The trip will provide an opportunity to better understand Taiwan’s policies for managing energy and natural resources, and help strengthen the cordial and cooperative bilateral relations that exist between Taiwan and Swaziland.
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1968, Taiwan and Swaziland have cooperated closely and extensively in many areas. For example, projects covering rural water supply and electrification, as well as solar-powered lamps, have significantly improved Swazi people’s lives. Over the years, Swaziland has firmly supported Taiwan’s campaign to participate meaningfully in the United Nations and other international organizations. (E)
